Over 100,000 MAN HOURS OF LABOR
They all come together this September in the form of forty-four showcase homes in the Home Builders Association’s annual Parade of Homes. Located throughout the Tri-Cities, these homes represent the greatest variety in design, style and price ranges ever presented in the Parade of Homes.

According to HBA President Jack Lynch, “We were pretty excited about having 22 entries last year. When the level of interest doubled this year we realized that a huge part of the community will be involved in one way or another. When you think about all the materials that must be supplied and the labor it takes to build 44 showcase homes, it’s pretty overwhelming. And that doesn’t include the banking, insurance and marketing industries that are also involved.” Lynch said the challenge now is to have a well-coordinated event utilizing a strong HBA volunteer base. “It will be challenging, of course, but I’m confident that we’ll have a great event that runs smoothly from the first day to the last.”

Lynch attributes the large number of entries to attractive interest rates and more importantly, a strong local economy. Nearly half of the homes are being custom built for clients –most whom already live in the community. According to Lynch, this is a reflection of the current trend in the home building community.

Extra days have been added to this year’s Parade in order to provide an opportunity for everyone to see as many of the homes as they would like. Parade of Homes times and hours will be:
  Saturday & Sunday, September 11 & 12, 9am - 5pm
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, September 14, 15 16, 3pm - 7pm
Saturday & Sunday, September 18 & 19, 9am - 5pm
In order to make Parade of Homes information more accessible to the public, the HBA has partnered with Amerion to provide web service. Beginning in mid-July, Parade information will be available at www.hbatc.com. As the September 11 opening day draws closer, details about every Parade home will be included on that site. Cherry FM radio is also partnering with the HBA to provide community-wide exposure for the event.

Tickets will be $5 and will be sold at all Tri-City area SunMarts starting on Labor Day, September 6. A map will be printed in the Tri-City Herald on September 10, the day before the Parade starts. A full-color glossy magazine featuring details – including floor plans – of all the homes will be distributed to ticket purchasers when they visit their first Parade home.
