Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) Training

September 21-22, 8:00-5:00 at the HBA Office ~ 10001 W Clearwater Ave ~ Kennewick

Costs:

  • HBA of Tri-Cities Members: $250
  • Non-Members: $325

Do you need a Construction Stormwater General Permit from Ecology? If your project disturbs over an acre of land or is in a subdivision, you probably do. One of the requirements of this permit starts in October: all sites disturbing over an acre must have a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL). The CESCL is trained to inspect, install, and manage stormwater controls on your site. Because Ecology requires the CESCL to be on-call or on-site at all times, most companies will need more than one employee trained as a CESCL.

Designed for residential builders, the course explains the erosion process and how to apply and comply with the stormwater permit. The course also provides detailed instruction on how to develop a stormwater plan, select and maintain stormwater controls, and accurately sample stormwater. BIAW’s CESCL certification class will give you the tools you need to comply with local and state stormwater requirements. This class also meets CESCL requirements for recertification.

CEPA Certified Lead-Safety for Renovation, Repair, and Paint Training

October 1, 2010, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm at HBA Office ~ 10001 W Clearwater Ave ~ Kennewick

Under new EPA rules, contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb paint in homes or child care facilities built prior to 1978 must be certified in lead safe work practices in order to minimize occupants’ exposure to lead hazards. This rule goes into effect on October 1, 2010. After that date, fines for non-compliance are as high as $5000 per day per job site.

This one-day class will give you the EPA mandated training for you and your employees to become Certified Renovators under this new federal law. The HBA presents this federally mandated program provided in partnership with Oregon Home Builders Association and the National Center for Healthy Housing. Attendees will also have the option of taking a portion of the class online. Class size is limited to 20 students.
